I'm Back and Changes to be Made

Right, I firstly want to apologize.  I haven't posted in ages.  44 days to be exact.  I know I have a few people reading my thoughts and I want to apologize for not keeping this up.

What happened?  Well, I couldn't continue eating Paleo.  Why?

Right, as I was limiting a lot of food groups out, I started to feel tired, grumpy, constantly constipated and just not a pleasant person to be around.  I had trouble sleeping and concentrating. It wasn't worth my sanity.  I felt ashamed about this failure.  So I stopped writing.

So in those 44 days, I have gained 4 pounds, my tummy has been bloated and I haven't been treating myself well at all.  Plus my new trainer, Jane, left the gym and I was seriously depressed and gutted.

But I have managed to get myself out of this snit and I have decided that my weight loss journey isn't going to stop.

I took the big decision to try something new for me.  So last Wednesday I joined Slimming World.  Yes, I joined a "Chub Club".  I heard a lot of people that struggle as I do with their weight have a lot of success with it.  So I thought I would give it a try.

I went in with an open mind.  I was weighed (no one saw my weight except for the leader) and it was written down.  I then sat down and looked around.  There were women of all shapes and sizes.  The leader handed out awards for weight loss achievements.  There was great positive energy in the room and I felt like I would fit in.

Everyone went around and told the leader about their week, if they gained or if they lost, what food they ate that week, concerns.  Everyone listened and offered suggestions and helped each other.  It was really nice!

I received literature about the eating plan and was surprised that you can actually eat carbs on this plan!!!

I read up about it and made some notes.  When my boyfriend and I went shopping, I was prepared and bought loads of healthy foods!!!

I started the plan yesterday and so far so good.  I am not tired.  My tummy isn't bloated.  My mood is a lot more stable.  I feel...well...good!  I feel like I have more energy.  I have been able to eat pasta, couscous, cheese, meat, and I have been introduced to foods that I would have never thought to try.

So far it has been successful.  I have strictly followed the plan and I am well pleased.

I have also started with a new personal trainer.  Her name is Kathryn and she went to school with my boyfriend.  She is petite, sweet and lovely.  I am training with her once a week and she has written up a fitness plan which is back to what I love doing.  Weights!!!

The Paleo Project Collapsed but It isn't a failure as I have learned from this.  It's not for me!  I know some people that have done really well on that type of diet but it's not sustainable for me.  Slimming World seems to be a lot more of a lifestyle which teaches moderation and basic nutrition.  It's something that I feel great about.  The weight loss will be slow. 1-3 pounds a week.  I know that can be disheartening but those little losses add up to big losses.  So I am feeling confident that I will hit my goals and I will be back into the jeans that I wore when I was 18!!!

So, all in all I am feeling better.  Onwards and upwards!  I am still going to log my food and exercise each day so here it goes:
